A secret meeting of IAS officers in Hyderabad has stirred significant attention, with 20 to 23 senior officials gathering at a star hotel on Wednesday. The meeting, chaired by a senior IAS officer, was reportedly held without the knowledge of Chief Minister or other ministers, leading to speculation about the nature of the discussions. Sources indicate that the collectors have expressed their discontent, deciding not to implement decisions based solely on verbal instructions from political leaders, citing concerns over how these decisions are undermining their position and authority.
This meeting follows growing unrest among government officials in the wake of several major scandals during the current BRS government, including the recent Lachcharla incident. The National Human Rights Commission (NHRC) has already issued notices to the Chief Secretary and Director General of Police in relation to the incident. Additionally, several officials are under investigation for involvement in high-profile corruption cases, such as the Kaleshwaram project, Formula E racing, GST scam, and phone tapping. Former Chief Secretary Somesh Kumar is also facing inquiry after his retirement.
Allegations of land allocation irregularities have also surfaced against IAS officer Amoy Kumar, who served as Ranga Reddy District Collector. Multiple complaints have been filed regarding illegal land transfers in Maheshwaram Mandal, with claims that 42 acres of Bhudan land, worth hundreds of crores, were unlawfully transferred. Investigations into these charges are ongoing.
As the situation unfolds, it remains uncertain whether the collectors will maintain their stance and act on the decisions made during the meeting. Further developments are expected in the coming days.
