Jammu: A major security threat was neutralised on Thursday as Indian defence forces successfully intercepted a missile and drone strike launched by Pakistan targeting the Jammu air base and surrounding civilian areas. The Indian Air Force (IAF), using its advanced S-400 air defence system, destroyed eight incoming Pakistani missiles mid-air and neutralised three fighter jets.
According to official sources, Pakistan initiated an aerial offensive by launching eight rockets and deploying one F-16 and two JF-17 fighter aircraft across the Line of Control. In a swift response, Indian air defence systems detected the threat and acted immediately. The S-400 system intercepted and destroyed all incoming missiles before they could reach their intended targets.

The IAF also scrambled fighter jets from Pathankot Air Base, which engaged the hostile aircraft and brought them down, preventing any damage or casualties. Intelligence agencies confirmed that the missiles and drones were aimed at Jammu Civil Airport, Samba, RS Pura, Arnia, and surrounding areas.
Security officials lauded the coordinated response of the Indian armed forces, highlighting the efficiency of the S-400 and Akash missile systems in protecting national airspace. The failed attack is being viewed as another provocative move by Pakistan, which has seen heightened tensions in the region following recent counter-terror operations by India. Investigations into the incident are underway, and high alert has been maintained along the border.
