Hyderabad: Telangana Chief Minister Revanth Reddy on Friday launched a sharp critique of the previous BRS government, declaring that the Congress has dismantled the “arrogant strongholds” of the Kalvakuntla family and replaced them with the national tricolour. Addressing the Samajika Nyaya Samarabheri (Social Justice Rally) at LB Stadium, the Chief Minister said the Congress administration has not only endured but also delivered key welfare promises despite early scepticism.

Revanth Reddy outlined the government’s major achievements over the past 18 months, including the implementation of Rythu Bharosa, bonus payments for fine rice (sanna vadlu), subsidised rice for the poor, and loan waivers for farmers. He said Telangana now leads the country in paddy production and credited the Congress government for disbursing Rs 9,000 crore under Rythu Bharosa in just nine days. He invited opposition leaders to debate the government’s agricultural performance in the Assembly.

Criticism Over Welfare Opposition

The Chief Minister also criticised those opposing the naming of the subsidised Rs 5 meal scheme after former Prime Minister Indira Gandhi, stating that such opposition ignores her legacy of social welfare. “Indiramma stood for the empowerment of the poor, particularly women. Under her vision, we laid the foundation for women’s financial independence,” he said. He reiterated the government’s goal of transforming one crore women into millionaires through its welfare schemes.

Employment and Investment Push

Revanth Reddy announced that the government had filled 60,000 vacancies in various departments within its first year in office. He challenged former Chief Minister K. Chandrashekar Rao and Union Minister G. Kishan Reddy to verify the figures, stating he would publicly apologise if any discrepancy was found.

He further claimed that Telangana had attracted ₹3 lakh crore in investments in the last 18 months. Emphasising education reforms, the Chief Minister said plans are being formulated to align the state’s academic standards with global benchmarks.

The rally marks a key political moment for the Congress in Telangana, as it seeks to consolidate its governance narrative ahead of upcoming electoral challenges.
