Revanth Reddy Seeks PM’s Nod for Hyderabad Metro Phase-II

Hyderabad: Telangana Chief Minister Revanth Reddy met Prime Minister Narendra Modi to discuss vital infrastructure and development projects in the state. Revanth urged the Centre to approve the Hyderabad Metro Rail Phase-II expansion, which includes five corridors spanning 76 km at an estimated cost of Rs 24,269 crore. The project, structured as a joint venture with the Centre contributing 18% and the state 30%, was submitted to the Centre following the successful completion of the 69 km Phase-I Metro. He cited recent metro project approvals in Chennai and Bengaluru as a basis for speedy clearance.

The Chief Minister also requested comprehensive development of the Regional Ring Road (RRR) around Hyderabad, emphasizing the simultaneous commencement of northern and southern sections to avoid cost escalation. He assured the state’s willingness to bear 50% of land acquisition costs. Additionally, Revanth proposed the construction of a 370 km Regional Ring Railway line parallel to the RRR and sought central assistance for the project.

Highlighting the importance of connectivity for trade, Revanth requested a Greenfield highway connecting Telangana’s Dry Port to Machilipatnam port in Andhra Pradesh, aimed at boosting pharmaceutical exports and industrial growth.

Revanth assured full state support for the India Semiconductor Mission (ISM) and highlighted Hyderabad’s existing R&D infrastructure and skilled workforce, positioning Telangana as a key player in the semiconductor sector. He noted that approval of the ISM project would attract investment and create employment.

Further, the Chief Minister stressed Hyderabad’s strategic role in the defense sector and called for support to MSMEs involved in defense production. He proposed development of the Hyderabad-Bengaluru Defense Corridor and appealed for equitable central support to Telangana similar to other states.
