Hyderabad: The Revanth Reddy-led government has announced a major initiative for women across the state ahead of the Bathukamma festival. Under the Indira Mahila Shakti Scheme, women will receive handloom sarees through the program titled “A Gift from Your Revanth for Sisters.” Unlike the previous government, which provided one saree per beneficiary, this year each woman will receive two sarees worth Rs. 800 each, totaling Rs. 1,600 per woman.
Distribution and Beneficiary Details: The sarees will be produced and supplied through handloom cooperative societies, providing employment to local weavers and boosting the state’s handloom industry. Officials have been directed to collect beneficiary data from rural areas via DRDO and from urban areas via MEPMA to ensure smooth distribution. The government plans to complete the saree distribution ahead of the festival, which begins on September 21.
