Hyderabad: Telangana Chief Minister Revanth Reddy on Wednesday alleged that former Chief Minister K. Chandrashekar Rao (KCR) was responsible for the unlawful use of Krishna river waters by Andhra Pradesh. During a detailed PowerPoint presentation at the Pragathi Bhavan, Revanth accused KCR of enabling this diversion by failing to assert Telangana’s rights over Krishna waters during his decade-long tenure as CM.
Revanth stated that KCR should have secured water at the Jurala point itself but allowed it to pass unchecked, ultimately benefiting Andhra Pradesh. He recalled that former minister Chinna Reddy had advised drawing water from Jurala, but KCR insulted him. “Had KCR listened, the looting of Krishna water wouldn’t have occurred,” said Revanth, adding that KCR should be “lashed a hundred times for this betrayal.”
The CM criticised KCR for reducing the lift quota from 2 TMC to 1 TMC in the Palamuru-Rangareddy project, inflating project costs, and failing to complete a single major irrigation project, despite spending ₹2 lakh crore. “He renamed Chevella but failed to supply water,” Revanth said, pointing out that none of the 11 AIBP-linked projects were touched during the previous regime.
Further, Revanth questioned KCR’s coordination with Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy, alleging collusion in issuing controversial GOs that facilitated Andhra’s water usage. “KCR’s betrayal on Krishna river water surpasses even the past misdeeds of the united Andhra rulers,” Revanth declared, accusing him of endangering Telangana’s farmers and branding his actions as a grave injustice to the state.
