Hyderabad: The Revanth Reddy-led government has made a significant move in addressing the CMRF cheque scam, which gained notoriety during the previous administration. In a major decision, the government has ordered the closure of 28 private hospitals involved in the fraudulent activities related to the CMRF funds. These hospitals were found guilty of submitting fake bills to siphon off funds without providing medical services.
As per the Clinical Establishments Act – 2010, the registrations of the 28 private hospitals have been canceled across various districts in the state. Medical health officials in districts including Hyderabad, Rangareddy, Nalgonda, Karimnagar, Peddapalli, Hanumakonda, Mahbubabad, and Khammam have been directed to implement the cancellations immediately. Khammam district reported the highest number of cancellations, with 10 private hospitals affected, followed by Rangareddy (6), Hyderabad (4), Nalgonda (3), and Mahbubabad (2), while Karimnagar, Peddapalli, and Hanumakonda each saw one hospital’s license revoked.
This move follows a thorough investigation by the government, which had previously instructed the CID to probe the CMRF scam. The authorities have detained and interrogated the suspects, leading to the conclusion that private hospital managements were involved. Consequently, criminal cases have been filed, and these hospitals have been blacklisted by the Department of Medical and Health.
