A tragic stampede marred the Pushpa 2 premiere at Sandhya Theatre, Hyderabad, on Tuesday, leading to the death of a fan and injuries to another. Actor Allu Arjun’s attendance caused an unexpected rush of fans, exposing lapses in crowd management and safety measures.
Telangana police have registered a case against the theatre management for failing to ensure public safety. Additionally, Allu Arjun’s team is under scrutiny for not informing the police about the actor’s appearance at the event, a lapse that could have prevented the chaos.

Central Zone DCP Akshansh Yadav clarified that while the police were aware of the premiere, they were not informed about the presence of Allu Arjun or other cast members. “Theatre management and the actor’s team did not communicate adequately or arrange private security at the venue. This negligence resulted in overcrowding,” he said.
During Allu Arjun’s arrival, security personnel reportedly pushed the crowd to control the situation, further aggravating the chaos. The stampede left Rewati, a resident of Dilsukhnagar, dead on the spot, while another fan, Sriteja, is currently undergoing treatment at a local hospital.
The incident has raised serious questions about the event’s organization, with authorities now investigating the accountability of all parties involved.
