Hyderabad: For the past few years, property disputes between former Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister Jagan Mohan Reddy and Congress Chief Sharmila have continued unabated. While Jagan initially believed he had nothing to offer Sharmila regarding his assets, recent rumors suggest he is now considering property transfers. Reports indicate that discussions related to these matters took place in Bengaluru.

Political circles are abuzz with speculation that Jagan, who feels his political future may be at stake if he remains isolated, is contemplating a potential alliance with the Congress party. This speculation arises amid perceptions that Jagan and Sharmila may have reconciled, despite ongoing tensions.

Dispute Over Share Allocation

Disputes within the YSR Congress family remain a significant concern, particularly regarding the allocation of shares in Saraswati Power and Industries. On September 9, Jagan, along with his wife Bharathi, filed a petition against Sharmila and Vijayamma in the National Company Law Tribunal (NCLT) concerning this matter. A notable revelation is Jagan’s complaint against his own mother and sister regarding property transfers, which has generated considerable media attention.

Five petitions concerning the Saraswati Power share dispute have been filed, involving Classic Realty Private Limited, Jagan, and Bharathi Reddy. In his petition, Jagan stated that he initially intended to allocate shares to his sister Sharmila. However, he claimed that her ongoing political opposition prompted him to retract those shares. He cited a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) from August 21, 2019, which indicated that shares were to be allocated to Vijayamma and Sharmila but were not due to various reasons. Consequently, he decided to withdraw those shares. The NCLT has issued notices to all respondents and has postponed the next hearing to November 8.

 Recent Comments and Implications

In recent developments, Sharmila made striking comments regarding Jagan, recalling how he had undermined the fee reimbursement scheme initiated by their father. She criticized his handling of the scheme, which was effectively implemented by YSR, asserting that Jagan has allowed it to falter. She expressed outrage over the Rs 3,500 crores in pending fees owed to students, describing it as shameful and accusing Jagan of neglecting the issue, causing mental distress to parents.

Sharmila also commented on Jagan’s alliance with the BJP, branding him as a successor to Modi. She contended that it is erroneous to assume YSR’s aspirations would be upheld by Jagan, suggesting that it is misguided to view him as a true heir to those ideals.

As current political dynamics evolve, speculation regarding a potential reconciliation between Jagan and Sharmila has intensified, adding further complexity to the ongoing property disputes.
