Patna: Political strategist and Jan Suraj Party founder Prashant Kishore has, for the first time, addressed his party’s failure to win a single seat in the Bihar Assembly Elections 2025. Speaking at a press conference in Patna, Kishore accepted full responsibility for the defeat, acknowledging that despite sincere efforts, the party could not secure any victories. He asserted that mistakes would be corrected and the party would return stronger.
Kishore criticized the ruling coalition, alleging that leaders like Nitish Kumar and BJP’s Samrat Chaudhary divided people along caste and religious lines and bought votes. He admitted that he underestimated Bihar’s political dynamics despite fielding candidates in all 238 constituencies. The party secured only 3.44% of the total votes, with 68 candidates receiving fewer votes than the NOTA option, and 236 candidates losing their deposits.
Kishore emphasized that electoral defeat is not a shame, but highlighted that systemic reforms did not take place. He noted that prior to the elections, if the Nitish government had not distributed ₹10,000 to 60,000 beneficiaries in each constituency, the party might have won up to 25 seats. He underlined that while the party did not win, it played a role in influencing state politics and maintained it never indulged in corrupt or divisive practices like the ruling alliance.
