Telangana Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy launched a sharp attack on the Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS), alleging an internal power struggle within the party. He claimed that after Kavitha was sent to jail, senior leaders Harish Rao and K.T. Rama Rao were competing with each other to take control of the party and harbour ambitions of becoming Chief Minister. Revanth Reddy said the situation had arisen due to the party’s inability to manage its own internal affairs.
Addressing the media during a municipal election campaign, the Chief Minister further alleged that disputes over the distribution of family properties had now come out in the open, leading to public infighting among family members. He described it as an internal family matter and criticised the BRS leadership for allowing personal issues to weaken the party.
On the phone tapping case, Revanth Reddy said the role of former Special Intelligence Bureau (SIB) chief Prabhakar Rao was extremely crucial. He alleged that Prabhakar Rao remained abroad for nearly 20 months and expressed displeasure over the lack of expected cooperation from the Union government in securing his return. The Chief Minister stated that only after the Supreme Court’s intervention was Prabhakar Rao compelled to return to India, which subsequently accelerated the investigation.
Reacting to the Tirumala laddu adulteration controversy in Andhra Pradesh, Revanth Reddy said it was an issue related to a neighbouring state. However, he clarified that Telangana had taken precautionary steps by ensuring that only ghee supplied by the government-owned Vijaya Dairy was being used in all major temples across the state.
