New Delhi: Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Congress leader Rahul Gandhi had an interesting encounter during the election of the Speaker of the Lok Sabha in Parliament today. The two leaders shook hands as they welcomed Om Birla, elected as the Speaker of the 18th Lok Sabha. It is learnt that Rahul Gandhi has been elected as the opposition leader in the Lok Sabha, representing the INDIA Bloc.
Rahul Gandhi attracted significant attention in Parliament. Recently seen with a bushy beard, he appeared freshly trimmed and donned a traditional politician’s attire for the occasion. Wearing a white kurta pyjama, Rahul Gandhi was closely observed by Congress MPs and leaders from other parties. During the ceremony, Prime Minister Modi congratulated Om Birla, expressing optimism about Birla’s leadership over the next five years and praising his friendly demeanour. “I am confident that this will create a positive atmosphere in the House,” Modi said.
Rahul Gandhi also extended his congratulations on behalf of the opposition and the INDIA alliance, commending Birla’s role as the ultimate voice of the people in Parliament. “Congratulations on behalf of the entire opposition and the INDIA alliance,” he remarked.
