Visakhapatnam: Andhra Pradesh Deputy Chief Minister Pawan Kalyan has directed a formal inquiry into allegations that his convoy caused traffic disruptions in the Pendurthi area, resulting in several students reportedly missing their JEE.
The Jana Sena chief took serious note of media reports and public concerns that around 30 students were unable to reach the Ayaan Digital Exam Centre in time on Sunday due to traffic regulations linked to his visit. Parents of affected students expressed distress, claiming the delay could impact their children’s academic future.
In response, Pawan Kalyan issued instructions to the Visakhapatnam police to investigate the matter thoroughly. The probe will focus on how long traffic was halted for the convoy, the conditions on roads leading to the examination centre, and whether alternate routes such as service roads were effectively managed.
He reiterated that no citizen should be inconvenienced during the movement of public representatives. The Deputy CM emphasized that, under the coalition government, traffic regulation for VIP convoys should be minimal and time-bound.
Pawan Kalyan also noted that despite traveling by helicopter on certain occasions, issues such as unnecessary traffic halts and tree cutting continue to occur. He directed officials and party workers to refrain from organizing welcome events or activities that disrupt normal traffic flow.
Party headquarters has issued clear instructions to leaders and cadres to avoid any programs that could inconvenience the public. Further updates will follow based on the outcome of the police inquiry.
