Pakistan Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif recently visited the families of those killed in Muzaffarabad during India’s Operation Sindoor, providing them with financial assistance. Speaking at the Kamra airbase in Punjab province, Sharif made remarks referencing the 1971 war, stating that Pakistan had avenged its defeat in that conflict.
Addressing the recent terror attack in Pahalgam, he called the incident unfortunate but criticized India for rejecting Pakistan’s demand for an impartial investigation. Sharif expressed Pakistan’s willingness to support an international-level inquiry into the attack.

In a reiteration of longstanding positions, Sharif once again raised the issue of Kashmir, suggesting it should be included in any peace talks with India. This stance contrasts with India’s firm position that Jammu & Kashmir and Ladakh are integral parts of the country and not subject to negotiation.
The visit included senior Pakistani officials such as Deputy Prime Minister Ishaq Dar, Defence Minister Khawaja Asif, Army Chief General Asim Munir, and Air Chief Marshal Zaheer Ahmad Babar Sidhu.
Sharif’s comments come amid ongoing tensions between the two countries following the Pahalgam terror incident, raising concerns about the prospects for dialogue and peace in the region.
