Hyderabad: BRS MLC Kalvakuntla Kavitha has stirred political controversy with her sharp remarks against Andhra Pradesh Deputy Chief Minister and Jana Sena chief Pawan Kalyan. Speaking in response to a media query about Pawan Kalyan’s recent comment urging people to learn Hindi, Kavitha stated that he is “not a serious politician” and termed his elevation to the Deputy CM post as “unfortunate” for the people of Andhra Pradesh.
Referring to Pawan Kalyan’s ideological evolution, Kavitha questioned how someone who once admired revolutionary Che Guevara could now align with right-wing politics. “It is surprising to see a person who claimed to follow leftist ideals now siding with the BJP,” she said. Kavitha also noted that Pawan became an MLA nearly 15 years after launching his political party and criticised his shifting alliances, stating that he had aligned with almost every party in the state except the YSRCP.

She further mocked the inconsistency in his public statements and sarcastically remarked that he might go to Tamil Nadu next and advocate for Hindi imposition there. A video clip of her comments quickly went viral on social media, drawing strong reactions from Jana Sena supporters.
Jana Sena leaders and Pawan Kalyan’s fans hit back at Kavitha on social media platforms, questioning her authority to comment on his political career. Many referenced her alleged involvement in the Delhi liquor scam and accused her of hypocrisy, suggesting that such controversies hardly qualify someone to label others as “non-serious” politicians. The online backlash has added fuel to the ongoing political sparring between the BRS and Jana Sena camps.
