The Telangana government has announced positive developments for farmers, with Agriculture Minister Thummala Nageswara Rao confirming that the Rythu Bharosa funds will soon be released. He also stated that the loan waiver for farmers with debts under Rs 2 lakh will be completed by the end of this month. For those with loans exceeding Rs 2 lakh, the waiver amount will be credited in phases starting next month.
Government officials have indicated that around four lakh farmers are still waiting for loan waivers under ₹2 lakh. The minister assured that arrangements are in place to provide relief to these farmers before Diwali. Following this, the loan waiver process for farmers with debts exceeding Rs 2 lakh will commence.
During the election campaign, the Congress had pledged to increase the Rythu Bharosa assistance to Rs 15,000, with Rs 7,500 to be provided in two installments. Minister Nageswara Rao stated that these funds would also be disbursed soon. If both the loan waiver and Rythu Bharosa funds are released by the end of this month, farmers could receive dual benefits before Diwali.
Additionally, the minister announced a bonus of Rs 500 per quintal for paddy farmers and assured that grain procurement would be managed smoothly. Despite the loan waiver scheme being launched some time ago, many farmers have not yet benefited, prompting increased demands for swift action. Technical issues, including mismatched names on Aadhaar or ration cards and the lack of Aadhaar-bank account linkage, have delayed relief for thousands of farmers.
