MDNIY highlights Sadhana Pada through the insightful commentary of Vyasa Bhashya

MDNIY is conducting a National Workshop on Sadhana Pada, the second chapter of Patanjala Yoga Sutras with commentary by Vyasa Bhashya from December 9-14, 2024. The workshop aims to encourage participants to integrate the ancient teachings into their daily lives for a balanced and meaningful existence.MDNIY Vyasa Bhashya

While inaugurating the workshop, the Chief Guest Prof. Krishna Kanta Sharma, Former Professor of Vaidik Darshan at Banaras Hindu University, highlighted the importance of Kriya Yoga, stating, “Disciplined action, Self-study, and Surrender are key to practicing the eight limbs of Yoga. These steps help overcome obstacles and connect with our true nature, leading from outer purification to the stillness of Samadhi.”

Dr. Kashinath Samagandi, Director, MDNIY, while thrusting on the contemporary relevance of Sadhana Pada said, ‘Ashtanga Yoga’s beauty lies in its comprehensive approach. It offers a holistic package for achieving overall wellness aligning with WHO’s definition of health as a state of complete physical, mental, and social well-being.’

Prof Shiv Shankar Mishra, Head of Research and Hindu Studies at Shri Lal Bahadur Shastri National Sanskrit University, remarked, “Vyasa Bhashya presents Sadhana Pada as a pragmatic framework, facilitating practitioners’ progression from gross (Sthula) to subtle (Sukshma) realms, thereby cultivating mental and emotional fortitude.”MDNIY Vyasa Bhashya

More than 160 Yoga enthusiasts including the students of MDNIY are participating in the workshop.
Dr Indu Sharma, Assistant Professor (Yoga Education), MDNIY is coordinating for the workshop. It will feature special lectures by Eminent experts of Patanjala Yoga Sutras. This event marks the second edition of the workshop, following the previous session focused on the Samadhi Pada (Chapter on Enlightenment).

Sadhan Pada is comprised. of 55 sutras. Sadhana means ‘spiritual practice,’ and this chapter focuses on the steps the yogi can take to reach a state of union with the divine or higher Self. This workshop offers practical guidance on the techniques and practices used to still the mind and achieve meditative absorption.
