Senior Congress leader and former minister Jeevan Reddy is set to join the Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) in a significant political development in Telangana. He will formally enter the party today at a large public meeting in Jagityala, to be held in the presence of BRS chief K. Chandrashekar Rao, marking a major organisational boost for the party in the region.
The joining ceremony will take place during the “Praja Aashirvada Sabha” scheduled this evening in Jagityala district headquarters. Jeevan Reddy is expected to be accompanied by his close followers and supporters as he dons the BRS party scarf. Sources indicate that several senior Congress leaders are also likely to join the party along with him.
Among those expected to switch loyalties are individuals associated with local political networks in Jagityala, including Munnabhai, husband of Municipal Vice Chairperson Parveen, along with several councilors’ husbands such as Ramesh Rao, Gajula Rajender, Gajula Mahesh, Rajinikanth, Ram Mohan, Jagan Reddy, Meka Pavan, and Padmavathi, among others.
The political shift is particularly notable as many of the new entrants are reportedly linked to factions within the Congress party, including supporters of Jagityala MLA Dr. Sanjay Kumar. The MLA has earlier stated that he is working in coordination with the ruling government led by Chief Minister Revanth Reddy for constituency development, adding a complex dimension to the local political equations.
Interestingly, the developments have also led to unusual political divisions within families in Jagityala. While several women leaders continue to remain in the Congress aligned with the Sanjay Kumar faction, their husbands are reportedly joining the BRS along with Jeevan Reddy. This split within local leadership circles has become a key talking point in the district ahead of the high-profile rally.
