Union Minister Kishan Reddy launched another round of criticism on Hyderabad, stating that most of the constructions in the Musi riverbed area were built during the Congress regime. He pointed out that people have been residing there for 40 years, and the government provided them with all facilities. He argued that now calling it encroachment is unfair. According to him, there are no wealthy individuals living in the Musi riverbed area and hasty decisions shouldn’t be made.
Kishan Reddy emphasized that encroachment isn’t something easy to resolve and would require a great deal of effort. He challenged the Chief Minister to hold a court with the local residents and then claim that they willingly agreed to move. Kishan Reddy suggested that the area could be beautified by constructing a retaining wall, but questioned how beautification could happen without an alternative drainage system, as the entire drainage system flows into Musi. He also mentioned that beautification of the Ganga is being done with minimal expenses. Kishan Reddy asked where Rs1.50 lakh crore would come from and why such an expenditure is necessary. He advised that hasty decisions regarding Hydra are not advisable.
