Khawaja Asif Warns of Possible Full-Scale War with India

Pakistan Defence Minister Khawaja Asif has reignited tensions with a fresh warning of a possible full-scale war with India, stating during a television interview that the recent Delhi blast could push New Delhi toward military escalation. Asif said Pakistan neither ignores nor trusts India and suggested that border intrusions, targeted attacks, or even an all-out conflict cannot be ruled out. Claiming he can anticipate enemy actions, he said Pakistan’s armed forces remain on high alert. His remarks follow Army Chief General Upendra Dwivedi’s recent description of Operation Sindoor as an “88-hour trailer,” signalling India’s preparedness for future challenges.

Escalating his rhetoric, Asif also issued warnings to Afghanistan, asserting that Pakistan is fully prepared to confront threats on both the eastern and western borders. He said Pakistan received divine support in the “first round” and expressed confidence of similar backing in future confrontations, adding that neighbouring countries would leave Pakistan with no option but war if provoked.

The minister’s comments come amid heightened tensions, as Pakistan faces strained relations with both India and Afghanistan. Although ceasefire agreements are currently in place, the situation remains fragile, with both borders witnessing sporadic incidents and the potential for sudden confrontations.

Asif had earlier accused India of involvement in attacks originating from Afghan territory, further complicating regional dynamics as security concerns intensify.
