Jay Shah has been elected as the Chairman of the International Cricket Council (ICC), succeeding without opposition. Shah, who has served as the Chairman of the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI), will take on the ICC role starting December 1. He is the son of Union Home Minister Amit Shah.

At 35, Shah is the youngest individual to assume the position of ICC Chairman. Since 2019, he has been serving as BCCI Chairman. Despite a call for nominations, Shah was the sole candidate to submit a nomination. The current ICC Chairman, Greg Barclay, chose not to seek a third term, leading to Shah’s unopposed election.

Jay Shah will be the fifth individual from India to hold the ICC Chairmanship, following Jagmohan Dalmiya, Sharad Pawar, N. Srinivasan, and Shashank Manohar.
