Telangana politics, which until yesterday revolved around the dispute between the ruling and opposition parties on the first day of the Assembly session, suddenly shifted to the issue of land. Reacting sharply to allegations by the opposition BRS that ordinary people’s lands were being placed under Section 22A, Chief Minister Revanth Reddy hit back by bringing up KCR’s farmhouse and the assets of his family members. Revanth Reddy launched a scathing attack, saying that while ordinary martyrs and activists who fought for a separate state lost everything, the KCR family and their relatives, during ten years in power, used their political position to amass thousands of crores of rupees and hundreds of acres of land.
Going beyond mere political criticism, he placed before the Assembly a list of survey numbers covering a total of 439.30 acres of land spread across 24 mandals and 31 villages in 9 districts. Among these, the issue of the Erravalli farmhouse came into special focus. He alleged that KCR and his wife hold 67.13 acres combined in Erravalli, Mittapalli, and Shivar Venkatapur in Siddipet district. He further alleged that, apart from the officially recorded 295 acres, an additional 388 acres of government land with no records at all had been fenced off and absorbed into the property — meaning KCR is enjoying an empire spread across nearly 700 acres, and asked whether this was not the plain truth. “Is this 700-acre farmhouse under your physical possession or not? KCR must answer this to the House and to the people of the state,” CM Revanth Reddy challenged.
Alleging that the KCR family had used the Dharani portal as a shield to grab all this land, Revanth Reddy issued orders to the Siddipet District Collector to conduct a comprehensive inquiry into the entire land holdings within the Erravalli farmhouse premises and submit a report within 30 days. He also issued a stern warning that if the details were not established within the deadline, action would be taken against the officials themselves.
Revenue Officials Begin Survey at Erravalli
Against this backdrop, revenue officials swung into action to collect details of the land linked to former Chief Minister KCR at the Erravalli agricultural farm in Markook mandal, Siddipet district. The Revenue Department intensified its efforts regarding the Erravalli farmhouse lands. Senior officials from the Siddipet District Collectorate visited the Markook Tahsildar’s office and examined the records. Officials inquired into 385 acres of government land and cross-checked it using satellite maps. AD Sudarshan and RDO Chandrakala reached the Tahsildar’s office and thoroughly examined the records. A survey of lands was conducted within a one-kilometre radius of the farmhouse. The inspection continued under the supervision of the Gajwel RDO, the Markook MRO, and AD Sudarshan.
Officials searched and examined assigned lands falling under Survey Number 325 on the borders of Erravalli and Venkatapur Varadarajapur. The measurement and inspection process has already been completed for several key survey numbers within the Erravalli and Venkatapur revenue villages. Officials also inspected sites near the Pandurangan tank in Erravalli village in Markook mandal. Key details were gathered on how much land falls under each survey number, and how much of it is government land versus privately held patta land. Having gathered details on land rights and encroachments, officials completed the first day of inspections, with another round of examination likely tomorrow. Meanwhile, local farmers confronted the revenue officials, questioning them on why the survey was being carried out.
Congress Representatives to Visit Siddipet
With the issue of encroachment on KCR’s lands turning into a major controversy, Congress public representatives are set to visit Siddipet tomorrow. A special bus has been arranged from the Assembly for this purpose tomorrow. The Congress party high command has already informed its public representatives and has called on them to arrive at the Assembly by 10 am tomorrow. They are expected to inspect the ground situation regarding the government lands. Following this, the Congress representatives will hold a meeting with revenue officials to discuss land details and revenue records. The visit by Congress representatives has gained added significance in the wake of CM Revanth’s orders for an inquiry into KCR’s lands.
