The Paris Olympics are set to commence in a few days, and Indian athletes are gearing up for the event. Scheduled to begin on July 26, the Games will see participation from Indian athletes selected across various disciplines.
Shooter Gagan Narang has been appointed as the chef de mission by the Athletics Federation of India. Narang, who has brought four Olympic medals to India in the shooting category, will lead the Indian contingent. Notable athletes like tennis player Sharath Kamal and badminton player PV Sindhu are strong medal contenders.
President of the Indian Olympic Association (IOA), P T Usha, expressed her confidence in the athletes, stating, “Our athletes will perform well at the Paris Olympics and bring medals to the country.”
Previously, boxer Mary Kom served as the chef de mission. She stepped down from the role in April due to personal reasons, as stated in her letter to IOA president P T Usha. Gagan Narang was then appointed as her replacement.
