New Delhi: Hours after India and Pakistan agreed to a ceasefire on Saturday amid escalating tensions, Indian military officials have accused Pakistan of breaching the truce and resorting to cross-border shelling.
Speaking to the media, Indian defense authorities stated that Pakistan has been consistently engaging in misinformation campaigns. “False claims about attacks on India’s S-400 and BrahMos air defense systems, and on cities such as Jammu, Bathinda, Bhuj, and Sirsa, are completely baseless,” officials said. Allegations regarding attacks on Naliya, Pathankot airbases, and the Chandigarh ammunition depot were also dismissed as unfounded.
Further, Indian officials rejected accusations that India targeted places of worship in Pakistan. “India is a secular nation. We do not attack religious institutions under any circumstance,” they added.
Indian forces confirmed that in retaliation to prior attacks, several key Pakistani radar and missile defense systems were destroyed, inflicting heavy damage along the Line of Control (LoC). “Even though a ceasefire has been agreed upon, the Indian military remains on high alert and fully prepared to respond decisively if provoked again,” officials said.
Despite the ceasefire, Pakistani forces reportedly opened fire in Jammu’s Palanwala sector on Saturday. Artillery shelling was also reported along the international border in Akhnoor, Rajouri, and RS Pura sectors. Several drone and missile attacks were reported from cities across Jammu, Punjab, and Rajasthan. Explosions were confirmed in Baramulla, where one drone was intercepted, and another unidentified aerial vehicle (UAV) was spotted. The Border Security Force (BSF) responded firmly to these provocations, according to defense sources.
