Dubai: India registered a six-wicket victory over Pakistan in a high-stakes Asia Cup 2025 match at the Dubai International Stadium on Sunday. While Pakistan put up a competitive performance, India dominated across all facets of the game. The Indian team maintained professionalism throughout, avoiding any on-field or off-field confrontations with their Pakistani counterparts.
Controversy emerged over the dismissal of Pakistan batter Fakhar Zaman. The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has filed a formal complaint with the ICC, alleging that Zaman’s wicket was incorrectly adjudged. On 15 runs, Zaman edged a delivery from Hardik Pandya and was caught by wicketkeeper Sanju Samson. Although the on-field umpire initially did not give him out, the decision was referred to the TV umpire, who confirmed the dismissal. Some camera angles suggested the ball may have bounced, but the umpire ruled it out based on Samson’s control of the catch. Zaman expressed dissatisfaction and left the field visibly upset.

Following the match, Pakistan team manager Naveed Cheema first raised the issue with match referee Andy Pycroft, and when no resolution was provided, escalated the matter to the ICC. Pakistan captain Salman Agha also voiced concerns, suggesting the ball appeared to bounce before reaching the keeper and adding that had Zaman remained, Pakistan might have been in contention for a total of around 190 runs.
