New Delhi: India and Afghanistan have jointly dismissed Pakistan’s recent allegations claiming that Indian missiles were launched from Afghan territory. In a diplomatic exchange aimed at reinforcing ties, India’s External Affairs Minister S. Jaishankar held discussions with Afghanistan’s Acting Foreign Minister Mawlawi Amir Khan Muttaqi.
Minister Jaishankar, in a post on X (formerly Twitter), stated that he had a “good conversation” with the Afghan minister and appreciated the Taliban government’s clear denial of Pakistan’s claims. “Thank you for rejecting attempts to create misunderstandings between India and Afghanistan,” Jaishankar wrote, adding that India’s friendship with the Afghan people remains strong and enduring.

Pakistan had earlier accused India of using Afghan soil to target Pakistani territory. However, the Taliban administration promptly rejected these accusations, stating that India did not use Afghan land for any such action. The Afghan Defence Ministry also clarified that no Indian missile had landed on Afghan soil, and labelled the Pakistani claims as baseless.
India has consistently enjoyed cordial relations with Afghanistan and has supported its developmental and humanitarian needs for decades. Minister Jaishankar reaffirmed India’s commitment to continue supporting Afghanistan’s progress.
The latest exchange highlights New Delhi’s proactive diplomatic efforts in countering misinformation and maintaining regional cooperation amid shifting geopolitical dynamics.
