Hyderabad: HYDRAA carried out an encroachment removal drive in Nizampet on Tuesday, addressing road blockages that had been causing severe traffic congestion in multiple residential colonies. The operation, conducted in coordination with Nizampet municipal authorities, covered Balaji Hills and Indiramma Colony under Ward No. 12.
Unauthorized Constructions Removed
Encroachments included extended apartment ramps, iron-frame staircases, and fenced-off public spaces, along with unauthorized shops and additional structures obstructing traffic flow. Complaints were raised regarding congestion affecting access to Venkataraayanagar, Balaji Colony, KNR Colony, and Kolanu Tulasi Reddy (KTR) Colony, with significant disruptions on the route between the Old Age Home and the Miyapur Metro Station.

Action Taken Following Court Order
Despite a court ruling mandating the removal of these encroachments, no action was taken for months. Following a two-month deadline that yielded no response, HYDRAA proceeded with the demolition in the presence of municipal officials. Illegal constructions, including shops and fences encroaching on public roads, were cleared.
Improved Connectivity and Public Response
The removal of over a kilometer of encroachments has significantly improved traffic flow. Residents welcomed the move, stating that the clearance will ease congestion and enhance accessibility to metro services and main roads.
