Foreign Secretary Vikram Misri strongly condemned the recent terrorist attack in Pahalgam, calling it a “heinous act” and a deliberate conspiracy to disturb peace and development in Jammu and Kashmir. He made these remarks during a joint media briefing by the Indian Armed Forces in New Delhi on Operation Sindoor.
Speaking on the intelligence gathered, Misri revealed that those involved in the Pahalgam terror attack have been identified based on detailed inputs and eyewitness accounts. “This attack was clearly orchestrated to disrupt the growing stability and progress in Kashmir,” he said.

The government also released a video highlighting key terror attacks carried out by Pakistan-based groups — including the 2001 Parliament attack, the 2008 Mumbai attacks, the 2019 Pulwama bombing, and now the 2024 Pahalgam incident. Misri noted that over 350 Indian civilians have been killed in Pakistan-backed terror strikes so far.
Misri confirmed that the banned outfit Lashkar-e-Taiba was behind the Pahalgam attack, executed through its affiliate, The Resistance Front (TRF). The group had publicly claimed responsibility on social media. “Pakistan continues to provide safe havens, training, and support to these terrorist groups,” he added.
In response, India has imposed diplomatic and trade restrictions on Pakistan, citing its persistent role in supporting cross-border terrorism. “Pakistan’s long-standing policy of aiding terror groups is internationally recognized and unacceptable,” Misri said.
