Hyderabad: A devastating fire accident in Nampally claimed five lives, including two children and three women, after they were trapped in the cellar of a building for nearly 21 hours. Rescue teams recovered the bodies late after an extensive operation involving around 200 personnel.
The deceased have been identified as Praneeth, Baby, Imtiaz, Akhil, and Habib. The blaze, which reportedly originated in a furniture shop, spread rapidly due to the presence of chemicals and wooden materials. Thick smoke filled the building, making entry extremely difficult and severely hampering rescue efforts. Firefighters and disaster response teams worked continuously through the night, eventually digging an access pit to reach the cellar, where the victims were found dead.

Officials said the victims had little chance to escape and were likely overcome by smoke inhalation while trapped underground. The bodies were shifted to Osmania General Hospital for postmortem examination. The incident triggered scenes of grief at the hospital as family members, who had waited anxiously for nearly 21 hours hoping for their loved ones’ safe return, broke down upon confirmation of the fatalities.
