Hyderabad: An empowered committee appointed by the Centre has arrived in Hyderabad to investigate the ongoing 400-acre land dispute involving the University of Hyderabad (HCU). As part of its review, the committee held separate meetings with representatives of key student groups, including the Hyderabad Central University Students’ Union (HCUSU) and the Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad (ABVP).
The meetings were conducted at Taj Krishna, where the committee is currently based. The panel is closely examining land located in the Kanch Gachibowli area, which has been at the center of the controversy.

In addition to engaging with student bodies, the committee also met with Telangana Chief Secretary Shanti Kumari and senior police officials. Authorities were questioned about the timeline of events and administrative measures taken so far in relation to the disputed property.
The committee’s visit is expected to play a significant role in clarifying ownership and usage rights pertaining to the land and addressing concerns raised by stakeholders at the university.
