The Enforcement Directorate (ED) has taken action against former minister Mallareddy, seizing assets belonging to his medical college. The move follows allegations of irregularities in postgraduate medical seat admissions under the management quota. Assets worth Rs 4.5 crore linked to Mallareddy Medical College have been confiscated, with the ED registering a money laundering case.

The ED’s investigation uncovered violations in seat allocation, where management quota seats were reportedly blocked and later sold at inflated prices. Apart from Mallareddy Medical College, the ED also seized assets worth Rs 3.33 crore from Chalmeda Anand Rao Institute of Medical Sciences and Rs 2 crore from MNR Medical College.
The case originated from a complaint by the registrar of Kaloji Narayana Rao University, who highlighted malpractice in admissions. Last year, the ED conducted raids on Mallareddy’s colleges and offices, discovering financial discrepancies.
Officials noted that despite all counseling phases being completed, some seats were deliberately left vacant and later sold under the guise of management quota, violating norms. The investigation remains ongoing to determine further culpability.
