Hyderabad: Chief Minister Revanth Reddy is scheduled to travel to Delhi again to address concerns regarding the minimal flood assistance provided by the central government. Reports indicate that he will meet with Home Minister Amit Shah and other central ministers today to request a reconsideration of the recently announced aid.
The central government has allocated a total of ₹5,858 crores in flood relief to 14 states, with Telangana receiving ₹416.80 crores and Andhra Pradesh getting ₹1,036 crores from the National Disaster Relief Fund (NDRF). Maharashtra received the largest allocation of ₹1,432 crores. This decision follows a visit by a central team, including Union Agriculture Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan, to assess the flood damage in the Telugu states.
Minister Lokesh expressed his appreciation for the swift announcement of aid, which came just 24 hours after Minister Chouhan’s visit to Vijayawada. He thanked Prime Minister Modi, Home Minister Amit Shah, and Minister Chouhan for their support. However, the Congress party has criticized the allocation, claiming that while they requested ₹1,000 crores for flood relief, only ₹416.80 crores were approved.
In light of this situation, it is reported that CM Revanth Reddy will advocate for additional funding for flood relief during his meetings in Delhi.
