Telangana Chief Minister Revanth Reddy has sought the assistance of Union Jal Shakti Minister C.R. Patil for the state’s ambitious Musi Riverfront Development Project. During his visit to Delhi, CM Revanth Reddy also requested funds for transferring Godavari river water to the twin reservoirs.

Accompanied by Deputy Chief Minister Mallu Bhatti Vikramarka, Minister Uttam Kumar Reddy, and other public representatives, Revanth Reddy met with several Union ministers in New Delhi. In his discussions, the Chief Minister outlined the government’s extensive plan to address pollution in the Musi River, which has become heavily contaminated.

The CM emphasized the need for Rs 4,000 crore for Musi sewage treatment and Rs 6,000 crore for filling Osman Sagar and Himayat Sagar with Godavari water. He highlighted that supplying these reservoirs with Godavari water could alleviate Hyderabad’s water scarcity issues.

Revanth Reddy also reminded the Union Minister of the Jal Jeevan Mission launched in 2019, noting that Telangana has yet to receive any funds under this scheme. He urged that allocations be made starting this year. Additionally, he addressed the need for nalla connections in 7.85 lakh houses across Telangana, proposing a Rs 16,100 crore investment under PMAY (Urban and Rural).
