Hyderabad: Chief Minister Revanth Reddy has directed tourism department officials to enhance the sector to generate revenue for the state. He expressed dissatisfaction over the lack of expected progress and stressed the need to develop tourism as a major employment source for the youth.
During a review meeting at ICCC on Friday, the Chief Minister noted that despite Telangana having abundant tourism potential, inadequate promotion in the past led to missed opportunities. He urged officials to adopt innovative strategies to drive the sector forward, linking Telangana’s rich history with modern advancements to shape a future-ready tourism department.
Incentives for Investors in Tourism Sector
CM Revanth Reddy instructed officials to offer incentives for investments in the tourism sector, particularly in semi-urban and rural areas. He emphasized the need to introduce boat houses in the backwaters of Nagarjuna Sagar and position Telangana as a prime destination for wedding tourism. Highlighting the importance of temples and wildlife sanctuaries in tourism, he urged officials to take necessary steps for their promotion and development.

Additionally, he directed improvements in facilities and marketing strategies for prominent sites, including Bhadrachalam, Saleshwaram, Ramappa Temple, Mallela Theertham, Bogatha Waterfalls, Buddhist stupas, and Jain temples. The Chief Minister also reviewed the progress of the Bhongir Fort ropeway project, instructing officials to expedite the tendering process now that land acquisition is complete. Furthermore, he stressed the importance of preserving the historical structures at the fort.
Focus on Adventure Sports and Medical Tourism
CM Revanth Reddy emphasized integrating tourism policy with various departments, including Forest, IT, Energy, TGICC, Health, and Sports, ensuring alignment without policy conflicts. He underscored the need to promote adventure sports under the tourism department and facilitate medical tourism by ensuring seamless services for international visitors.
