The CID has filed a case against former Vemulawada MLA Chennamaneni Ramesh, following a complaint by Congress MLA and Government Whip Aadi Srinivas. The complaint alleges that Ramesh contested elections using fraudulent certificates despite not holding Indian citizenship. Based on the complaint, the CID has registered an FIR and summoned Aadi Srinivas to their office on Wednesday to provide further details.

Court Orders Chennamaneni Ramesh to Pay Rs 25 Lakhs to Aadi Srinivas

In a related development, Chennamaneni Ramesh has been ordered to pay Rs 25 lakhs to Aadi Srinivas as part of a legal dispute concerning his eligibility to serve as an MLA. The case arose from the claim that Ramesh, who holds German citizenship, provided false information on his affidavit while contesting elections. The Hyderabad High Court ruled in December 2024 that Ramesh’s election as MLA was invalid. As a result, Ramesh is required to pay ₹25 lakhs to Aadi Srinivas, in addition to Rs 5 lakhs to the Legal Cell.

Ramesh has already complied with the court order, paying the ₹25 lakhs in the form of a Demand Draft to Srinivas’ legal representatives. The ruling follows a five-year-long investigation initiated by Aadi Srinivas’ petition and was delivered by Justice Vijay Sain Reddy.
