Hyderabad: BRS Working President K.T. Rama Rao on Saturday asserted that the Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) would sweep the elections in Telangana “like a storm,” regardless of when they are held. Speaking to the media at Telangana Bhavan, KTR also predicted that bypolls would soon be held in Khairatabad, Serilingampally, Rajendranagar, and Chevella constituencies.
He described BRS’s 25-year journey as a “people’s celebration,” emphasizing that after N.T. Rama Rao, it is only K. Chandrashekar Rao (KCR) who has successfully led a party for such a long time. “KCR founded BRS by confronting the TDP, BJP, and Congress. He achieved statehood for Telangana in 2001 by challenging even Delhi,” KTR said.
KTR highlighted that KCR established BRS without the backing of caste or financial power. Recalling past struggles, he alleged that the then government refused to allot land for the BRS party office in Hyderabad. “When Konda Laxman Bapuji offered his own land, even that was forcibly vacated,” he claimed.
Taking aim at Chief Minister Revanth Reddy, KTR questioned the demolition of houses under the ‘Hydra’ project. “Why did Revanth not demolish his brother’s house? Why target the homes of the poor?” he asked. KTR also criticized the CM for his statements on developing the Musi River with ₹1.5 lakh crore, while claiming that the state currently lacks funds for welfare schemes.
He accused the Congress government of misusing land in Hyderabad, including areas around the Central University, and compared Revanth Reddy’s alleged actions to the blackbuck poaching case involving Bollywood actor Salman Khan. “If Salman Khan was jailed for killing one deer, what should be done with Revanth who allegedly destroyed four?” he asked.
KTR also took jabs at the BJP, alleging that the party was “waiting for power” without addressing people’s issues. “Eight BJP MPs from Telangana have not spoken a single word against the Congress government,” he said, while claiming that the two Union Ministers from Telangana have done nothing for the state.
He alleged that the BJP-led Centre had not contributed “even a single rupee” to Telangana in the past 17 months. Without naming names, KTR mocked a BJP MP, saying people tremble at his mention “like hearing about a pumpkin thief.”
The former minister also questioned why Revanth Reddy has remained silent on the ED chargesheets filed in the National Herald case involving Sonia and Rahul Gandhi. He alleged a strong bond between Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Revanth Reddy and demanded a probe into alleged irregularities in Central University land deals.
He further criticized the silence following ED raids on Ponguleti Srinivas Reddy’s residence and questioned the Centre’s inaction when BRS raised concerns over issues such as Hyderabad Central University and RRR tax allocations.
