Former minister and BRS MLA Harish Rao has accused the Congress party of deceiving voters during the elections by promising a loan waiver, only to focus on screenings after assuming power. Harish Rao criticized the imposition of restrictions that he deemed unfit for a loan waiver. “The requirement of a ration card undermines the expectations of thousands of farmers. Setting a deadline for the loan waiver is also unjust,” he emphasized.
Harish Rao contested the government’s guidelines on the loan waiver scheme, alleging they prioritize screenings over genuine relief for farmers. “There’s a stark contrast between pre-election promises and post-election actions,” he remarked, suggesting a habitual discrepancy in the Congress party’s approach. “It appears there’s more effort to ease the government’s burden than to alleviate the farmers’ debt burden.”
He also condemned the decision to designate the food security card and PM-KISAN scheme as eligibility standards, stating this move dashed the hopes of countless farmers. “What were the restrictions promised during elections, and what has been imposed after gaining power?” Harish Rao questioned, highlighting the perceived disparity between election rhetoric and subsequent governance.
