Kukatpally MLA Madhavaram Krishna Rao has lauded the Hyderabad Development Authority (HYDRA) for its ongoing initiatives to develop the city’s lakes. He specifically expressed appreciation for the pilot project at Kukatpally Nalla Cheruvu, which is being developed under the authority’s supervision. Rao noted his satisfaction with the progress and emphasized the importance of expanding these efforts to other lakes in his constituency.

On Tuesday, MLA Krishna Rao, accompanied by MLC Naveen Kumar, submitted a formal petition to HYDRA Commissioner A.V. Ranganath. The petition outlined requests for further development in the lakes’ surrounding areas, particularly calling for adequate compensation for landowners and plot owners through the Transferable Development Rights (TDR) scheme. The petition stressed the need for ensuring that only legitimate beneficiaries are recognized, while preventing fraudulent claims.

The petition also highlighted the importance of diverting drainage systems to prevent contamination of the lakes with sewage water. Additionally, the representatives urged that strict action be taken against encroachments, regardless of political affiliations.

MLA Krishna Rao also mentioned that during the BRS government’s tenure, some work was completed on IDL Cheruvu, Boyin Cheruvu, and Mulaktipally Nalla Cheruvu, though progress was hindered by pending court cases.

HYDRA Commissioner A.V. Ranganath assured the lawmakers that efforts would be made to identify genuine beneficiaries for compensation and that the lake development projects across the city would be prioritized moving forward.
