Hyderabad,: Telangana Pradesh Congress Committee (TPCC) chief Mahesh Kumar Goud on Thursday dismissed the notion that the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) could come to power in the state, calling it a “daydream.”

Addressing the media, Goud took aim at Union Minister G. Kishan Reddy, sarcastically referring to him as “Kismat Reddy” and questioning his contributions to the Amberpet constituency during his 25-year political career. “If he has the courage, let him explain what he has done for the state,” Goud said. “Forget funds — has he even spoken to the Prime Minister once about Telangana’s development?”

He accused the BJP and the BRS of forming a pattern of political coordination during election seasons, only to act as rivals afterward. “Congress does not engage in such secret partnerships,” he remarked.

Drawing a parallel between Kishan Reddy and AIMIM leader Akbaruddin Owaisi, Goud said, “Kishan Reddy wakes up chanting Owaisi’s name. They must have been brothers in a previous life.” He accused BJP leaders of focusing solely on religious issues rather than developmental agendas.

Questioning the Union Minister’s recent controversial statements, Goud said, “Does Kishan Reddy even know why the term ‘Razakar Raj’ is being used during the MLC elections?” He added that making such remarks while holding a central cabinet post was inappropriate.

He also demanded answers from BJP leaders over their silence on alleged corruption in the Kaleshwaram project. “You don’t have the numbers. On whose support are you contesting elections?” he asked.

Clarifying Congress’ decision not to contest certain MLC seats, Goud said it was based on numerical constraints. He added that the party would consider political strategy and necessity before taking a stance in upcoming local body polls.

Criticizing the BJP for inaction on metro rail expansion in Hyderabad, Goud said Kishan Reddy had failed to support development as the city’s MP. “If HCU lands are utilized for industrial development, youth will benefit from employment opportunities,” he noted.

He also questioned BJP leaders Etela Rajender and Bandi Sanjay’s silence on the issue of 42% reservations for Backward Classes. Defending senior Congress leader Jana Reddy, Goud said, “He never lobbied for any post. He has always worked for the welfare of all.”
