Hyderabad: The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) is intensifying efforts to consolidate its political presence in Mahbubnagar, the home district of Telangana Chief Minister Revanth Reddy. According to party sources, BJP plans to induct at least five former BRS MLAs as part of its strategy, with Mahbubnagar MP D.K. Aruna spearheading the operation.
Achampet’s former MLA Guvvala Balaraju, known for his close ties to KCR’s family, recently resigned from BRS, triggering speculation of further desertions. Former MLAs Marni Janardhan Reddy (Nagarkurnool), Abraham (Alampur), Jaipal Yadav (Kalwakurthy), and Beeram Harshavardhan Reddy (Kollapur) are reportedly preparing to quit BRS and join BJP. Reports indicate that Balaraju and Abraham met BJP National General Secretary (Organization) B.L. Santhosh in recent days to discuss their entry.
The operation aims to weaken BRS’s stronghold in the district while boosting BJP’s statewide momentum. Telangana BJP president Ranchander Rao’s recent tour of Mahbubnagar is said to have accelerated the realignment process. MP D.K. Aruna is currently in Delhi to brief the party’s central leadership on the progress of these political moves.
Meanwhile, former Nagarkurnool MLA Marni Janardhan Reddy dismissed reports of switching allegiance, alleging that political opponents were spreading false propaganda. He reaffirmed his commitment to BRS, stating that he would remain loyal to KCR and K.T. Rama Rao. The development follows D.K. Aruna’s surprise win over Congress in the recent Lok Sabha polls, a significant setback for Chief Minister Revanth Reddy in his home district.
