Tirupati: A fresh twist has emerged in the Andhra Pradesh liquor scam case as a constable attached to Tirupati Urban police alleged custodial harassment by the Special Investigation Team (SIT). The constable, identified as Madan, has claimed that SIT officials subjected him to third-degree interrogation, forcing him to name former Chandragiri MLA and YSRCP leader Chevireddy Bhaskar Reddy as a key conspirator in the scam.

In a letter to the Director General of Police (DGP), Madan alleged that he was coerced for two days to state that Chevireddy had mobilised funds worth ₹200–₹250 crore as part of the scam. The constable, who previously served as a gunman to Chevireddy, is currently undergoing treatment at Manipal Hospital. He has also filed a Public Interest Litigation (PIL) in the Andhra Pradesh High Court, seeking protection from SIT harassment. The High Court is expected to hear the matter soon.
Meanwhile, in a significant development, Chevireddy Bhaskar Reddy was arrested by AP police at Kempegowda International Airport, Bengaluru, while allegedly attempting to leave for Colombo. Acting on prior lookout circulars, police detained him and are in the process of shifting him to the SIT office in Vijayawada for further questioning.
