Newly elected MLC Vijayashanti is likely to secure a key position in the Telangana cabinet, with reports suggesting that the Congress high command is considering her for the crucial Home Ministry. The decision is seen as a strategic move to counter the dominance of KCR’s family in state politics.
Following her unanimous election as an MLC, Vijayashanti’s sharp criticism of KCR’s family has added weight to these speculations.
Recently, the Election Commission issued a notification for five MLC seats under the MLA quota. Several prominent names, including Addanki Dayakar, Jeevan Reddy, Jaggareddy, Sampath Kumar, Kusuma Kumar, and V. Narender Reddy, were in the race. However, Vijayashanti’s inclusion in the final list came as a surprise to many, indicating a direct intervention by the Congress high command.
Cabinet Expansion Expected in Two Weeks
Sources suggest that the high command aims to utilize Vijayashanti’s political background and her association with the Telangana movement to target the BRS. With the cabinet expansion expected in the next two weeks, it remains unclear whether the Congress will fill all vacant positions or induct only Vijayashanti into the cabinet.
