Hyderabad: Chief Minister Revanth Reddy has instructed officials to complete the final draft of Telangana’s sports policy by the end of November, aiming to establish it as the best in India. He urged a thorough study involving consultations with experts and athletes to enhance the state’s sports resources. Revanth called for upgrading current stadiums and sports complexes to meet modern standards and instructed officials to draft a bill for the establishment of the Young India Sports University at the earliest.
The Chief Minister was briefed on key elements of the sports policy, including the Young India Physical Education and Sports University (YIPESU), the Young India Sports Academy (YISA), and the Sports Authority of Telangana (SATG). Officials provided updates and proposed modifications to further improve these institutions. CM Revanth also shared insights from his recent visit to the Korea National Sports University, where he identified best practices in sports education. He recommended considering recent discussions held by ministers Ponguleti Srinivas Reddy, Ponnam Prabhakar, and state advisor Vem Narendra Reddy with representatives from the Korean institution.
The Chief Minister has directed officials to study policies from globally recognized institutions like Queensland University in Australia. He further instructed the formation of a governing body for the sports policy within the next 10 days and called for a comprehensive calendar for state, national, and international sporting events.
Revanth also tasked officials with engaging the Indian Olympic Association to position Telangana as a potential host for the National Games within the next two years. Ministers Uttam Kumar Reddy, Ponguleti Srinivas Reddy, state advisor Keshav Rao, and other officials participated in the meeting.
