Kinnera Mogulaiah, a renowned folk artist celebrated in both Telugu states for his contributions to traditional music, has encountered an unexpected challenge. The Padma Shri awardee, known for his folk songs and notably for the title track “Puttindayya Puli Pilla” from the film Bhimla Nayak, expressed his distress after some unidentified persons demolished the compound wall of his residence overnight, just 15 days after its construction.
Mogulaiah was awarded the Padma Shri in 2022 for his efforts to preserve the Kinnera folk musical tradition in Telangana. On September 24, the state government allocated a 600-square-yard plot in Hayath Nagar, Hyderabad, to Mogulaiah, with the relevant documents provided by Revanth Reddy. Following this, Mogulaiah began construction on his property, including the compound wall.
However, to his shock, he discovered the wall had been destroyed overnight. Following the incident, Mogulaiah filed a complaint with the police, who have initiated an investigation into the matter. He is now calling on the Revanth Reddy government to address the injustice he has faced.
Mogulaiah’s plea highlights the ongoing challenges faced by artists and individuals within the community, emphasizing the need for government support and accountability.
