Hyderabad: The Hyderabad court has issued summonses to Telangana Chief Minister Revanth, requiring his personal appearance on August 25. This action follows a case involving controversial remarks made by Revanth about the BJP.
The Special Judicial First Class Magistrate has directed Revanth to attend court in connection with allegations of defamatory statements against the BJP. The remarks were made during a public meeting in Kothagudem as part of the Lok Sabha election campaign, where Revanth criticized the BJP for its stance on reservations.
In response to these comments, BJP State General Secretary K. Venkateshwarlu filed a defamation lawsuit. Due to multiple postponements in the lower court, Venkateshwarlu sought intervention from the High Court, which led to the issuance of the current summons.
Revanth had accused the BJP of plotting to abolish reservations and altering the Constitution. He suggested that the RSS had pledged in 1925 to transform India into a Hindu nation within 100 years and claimed this conspiracy aims to complete the transformation by 2025. Revanth questioned the BJP’s push for a two-thirds majority and criticized the party for not addressing the removal of reservations. He also stated that the Congress party is working to counteract this alleged conspiracy.
Additionally, Revanth recalled that former Chief Minister KCR had previously asserted that the Constitution could not be changed, questioning whether this stance was part of the BJP’s policy. He demanded clarification from KCR on his position regarding reservations and the BRS policy. Revanth further alleged that KCR had impeded the BJP in five parliamentary constituencies during the elections and criticized KCR for not opposing the BJP’s policies.
