In a significant move aimed at overhauling the education system, State Education, IT, and Electronics Minister Lokesh announced that the government led by Chandrababu Naidu will work to rectify the corruption that plagued the sector under the previous administration.

During a statement, Lokesh emphasized the commitment to depoliticizing schools in the state, transforming them into “Saraswati Nilayas,” or centers of educational excellence. As part of this initiative, the government has decided to discontinue the names of schemes introduced by the previous government under the former chief minister’s name.

In honor of the late former President Abdul Kalam on his death anniversary, Minister Lokesh unveiled new names for several schemes, reflecting a renewed focus on educational values and service to the nation. The renamed schemes are as follows:

  • Amma Vodi has been rebranded as “Ammaku vandanam”.
  • Jagananna Vidyakanuka will now be known as “Sarvepalli Radhakrishnan Vidyarthi Mitra”.
  • Jagananna Goru Mudda has been renamed “Dokka Seethamma Madyahana Bhojana Padhakam”.
  • Nadu-Nedu will be referred to as “Manabadi – Mana Bhavishyathu.
  • Swetcha Scheme is now called “Balika Raksha”.
  • Jagananna Animuthyalu will be known as “Abdul Pratibha Kalam Pratibha Puraskar”.

Lokesh highlighted that these changes are part of a broader effort to enhance the effectiveness of educational programs and honor the legacy of distinguished figures in Indian education.
