Recently, natural farming expert and environmentalist Vijaya Ram met with Pawan Kalyan at his residence in Mangalagiri. They discussed strategies to promote eco-friendly consumption and reduce plastic usage without compromising environmental health. Ram showcased various rice varieties like Govinda Bhog, Ratna Chodi, and Mappillai Samba, grown using natural farming methods.
During the meeting, Pawan Kalyan emphasized the importance of using eco-friendly items in celebrations and festivals. With Vinayaka Chaturthi approaching, he advocated for the worship of clay Ganapati idols, citing their environmental benefits in curbing water pollution. He directed officials to raise awareness about using clay Ganapati idols during the festival rituals.
“We have decided to introduce clay idols of Lord Vinayaka in a pilot initiative in my constituency, Pithapuram,” Pawan Kalyan announced. Currently, temple offerings include prasadams in butter paper covers, which experts suggest reducing. They recommend replacing these with small palm baskets and leaf-made cans, which are easier to manage environmentally. Pawan Kalyan plans to implement these changes on a trial basis in temples across the Pithapuram constituency.
