Minister Nara Lokesh calls for tansparent teacher transfers

Amaravati: State Education, IT, and Electronics Minister Nara Lokesh has instructed officials to ensure transparency in teacher transfers. During a review meeting held at the Secretariat on Wednesday, top officials from the school education department discussed various changes and improvements needed in school education. Lokesh emphasized that the transfer of teachers should be free from political pressure and urged the Commissioner to develop a policy reflecting this. He also suggested incorporating input from teachers’ unions.

Lokesh highlighted the importance of reducing non-teaching tasks and unnecessary apps for teachers to allow them to focus fully on teaching. He proposed considering the involvement of parents’ committees in infrastructure development in schools and requested a comprehensive report on closed schools for the upcoming review. The Minister made several suggestions to enhance the quality of food provided under the mid-day meal scheme and inquired about the funds required for developing full-fledged school infrastructure. He also directed officials to investigate the reasons behind the significant transfer of students from government to private schools over the past five years and to submit a detailed report on this issue. The meeting included a detailed discussion on improving children’s learning outcomes and educational standards, with Lokesh requesting a report on best practices from other parts of the country.

Additionally, the Minister referenced the education systems of developed countries such as Germany and Austria. He collected details from officials on the shortage of schools in the Rayalaseema region and the number of new schools needed. Participants in the review meeting included School Education Secretary Kona Shashidhar, School Education Commissioner Suresh Kumar, Samagra Shiksha State Project Director B. Srinivasa Rao, Adult Education Director Nidhi Meena, and other key officials.
