The political controversy surrounding Bandi Bhageerath, who is accused in a POCSO case, has intensified in Telangana, triggering sharp political reactions and renewed demands for accountability. Telangana Rakshana Sena president Kalvakuntla Kavitha has written a letter to Prime Minister Narendra Modi, seeking the immediate removal of Union Minister Bandi Sanjay Kumar from the Union Cabinet.
In her letter, Kavitha alleged that the continued presence of Bandi Sanjay Kumar in the Cabinet could adversely impact the fairness and independence of the investigation. She stressed that since he holds the sensitive portfolio of Union Minister of State for Home Affairs, his position may lead to perceived or indirect pressure on investigating agencies. She urged the Prime Minister to intervene to ensure an impartial probe and uphold democratic and ethical standards.
Meanwhile, the Telangana Police have intensified their search for absconding accused Bandi Bhageerath, deploying four special teams across Hyderabad, Karimnagar, and Delhi. As part of the operation, searches have been conducted at the residence of Bandi Sanjay Kumar in Karimnagar, as well as at the homes of Bhageerath’s relatives, including his maternal uncle Vamsi Krishna. Reports also indicate that police teams have expanded their search to Delhi based on intelligence inputs suggesting possible sheltering by political associates.
Although there were reports claiming that Bhageerath may already be in custody, Chief Minister Revanth Reddy clarified that the accused remains absconding. He reiterated that law applies equally to all individuals and urged Bhageerath to surrender before authorities without delay, emphasizing that the investigation will proceed in a transparent and lawful manner.
Meanwhile, Cyberabad Police have issued strict warnings against the circulation of any photographs, videos, or personal details of the minor victim on social media platforms. Officials cautioned that violations will attract stringent action under provisions of the Juvenile Justice Act, reinforcing the importance of protecting the identity and privacy of the victim during the ongoing investigation.
