Telangana Chief Minister Revanth Reddy announced that his government plans to provide electric (EV) scooters to college-going students. Speaking at a Women’s Day event at Raj Bhavan, he emphasized efforts to transform Hyderabad into a pollution-free city and stated that red and orange category industries would be relocated outside the Outer Ring Road (ORR). He expressed satisfaction in conducting the event alongside women journalists and highlighted the government’s commitment to recognizing women’s contributions.
The CM said that key responsibilities are being entrusted to women officers across departments, including the police, reflecting the government’s focus on women’s empowerment. He noted that economic empowerment of women is essential for the nation’s overall development. In line with environmental initiatives, he announced that diesel buses in Hyderabad would be shifted to district operations by December 2026.
Revanth Reddy also confirmed the introduction of 100% electric buses in the city, including AC EV buses, with diesel buses being phased out by December 9 this year. He reiterated the plan to distribute EV scooters to college students, fulfilling a promise made in the Congress manifesto ahead of the Assembly elections.
